Marilyn C.M. Erickson

At times, we all need a guide – someone to help us navigate through the inevitable rocky places in our lives – someone with whom we can share our concerns - someone who offers support as well as direction as we carefully weave our way through life. As your guide through those turbulent times, I use a combination of professional expertise and experience to promote insight, growth, the ability to see things in a new way and to change what is working and not working in your life. Marilyn has twenty-plus years of experience working as a therapist and hearing people’s stories in such diverse locations as Athens, Greece; Washington, DC; and Boston, Massachusetts. Her work includes therapeutic intervention with individuals, couples and families around such issues as grief counseling, life’s transitions, eldercare issues, coaching and career development, and cross-cultural counseling. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Master of Social Work and a Master of Public Health and has been licensed as an LICSW since 1999.

Pets, Love and Loss
In addition to her work as a therapist, Marilyn consults with the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine around the human-animal bond and pet- loss support. She is a compassionate and skilled listener who understands the important bond between an individual and his or her pet. She recognizes the deep relationship of acceptance and love that occurs as people connect with the pets they live with and care for.

When a pet loss occurs, the grief is as real and as painful as it can be with the loss of the people we love in our lives. Marilyn understands how this is so and is a willing and supportive guide who will lead you through the difficult and painful loss of your pet. This is a service offered by Marilyn at Burnsville Counseling and Healing Center and you would call our office to make an appointment.
